Why Clients Choose KAP
Many people turn to KAP after feeling “stuck” despite prior therapy or medication. Research and clinical experience suggest it can help with:
  • Depression and anxiety
  • PTSD and unresolved trauma
  • Compulsive sexual, relational, or substance-use behaviors
  • Emotional numbness or loss of meaning
  • Existential and spiritual distress
Clients often describe KAP as a “reset”—a sense that inner walls soften, emotional access deepens, and new pathways for healing emerge.

The Benefits of Our Collaborative Model
  • Safe and coordinated: medical care through Journey Clinical; therapeutic support through Recovering Hope.
  • Comprehensive: includes access to medication management and follow-up as needed.
  • Relational: you remain grounded in an ongoing, trusted relationship with your therapist.
  • Personalized: each treatment plan is tailored to your goals, history, and readiness.
Healing That Reaches Deeper
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) offers a new way to approach healing when talk therapy or medication alone hasn’t been enough. At gentle, clinically supervised doses, ketamine can help the brain “reset” by creating new connections and softening the patterns that keep people stuck in cycles of depression, anxiety, trauma, or compulsive behavior. When paired with therapy, this window of openness can help you see yourself and your life from a new perspective—making it easier to release old pain, reconnect with emotion, and move forward with clarity and hope.

At Recovering Hope, we provide KAP in partnership with Journey Clinical, a trusted medical team that specializes in safe, evidence-based ketamine treatment. Their clinicians handle all medical care, while you continue therapy with someone who already knows your story. Together, we create a supportive, integrated experience that helps you turn moments of insight into real, lasting change.

What Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Is
KAP integrates the use of low-dose ketamine with psychotherapy sessions designed to help you explore and integrate the insights that arise. Unlike anesthesia-level doses used in hospital settings, KAP involves small, sub-anesthetic doses that allow you to remain awake, reflective, and emotionally present throughout the experience.

How Ketamine Helps
Ketamine is believed to promote neuroplasticity—the brain’s capacity to form new connections. This creates a temporary “window of flexibility and learning,” giving clients a lived experience with the principles taught in therapy by helping them to:
  • Step outside rigid thought patterns or emotional shutdown
  • Gain distance from self-critical loops or compulsive urges
  • Access buried emotions, memories, or insights
  • Experience renewed clarity, motivation, and self-compassion
When combined with psychotherapy, these effects can support healing from depression, anxiety, trauma, and compulsive or addictive behaviors that thrive on avoidance or disconnection.

KAP is not appropriate for everyone. Each client is carefully evaluated by Journey Clinical’s licensed medical team to ensure medical and psychological readiness before beginning treatment.
